Rams Set To Play '19 Preseason Game At Aloha Stadium

The Rams will play a preseason game next year at Honolulu's Aloha Stadium and unveiled the event via a "scoreboard promotion" at L.A. Coliseum that ran during the first half of their game against the Seahawks, according to David McCracken of HAWAII NEWS NOW. The "date and other game details, including an opponent, will be announced at a later date" (HAWAIINEWSNOW.com, 11/11). In Hawaii, Katie Murar noted the Rams will be the "first NFL team to play a preseason game in Hawaii in more than 40 years through a partnership recently finalized with the state’s tourism agency." That partnership officially began yesterday when the Hawaii Tourism Authority sponsored Seahawks-Rams. The agency also will have "advertising at the Rams stadium on game days, as well as on ESPN broadcasts and other digital platforms." The game at Aloha Stadium "may be the largest revenue generator" for the venue next year (BIZJOURNALS.com, 11/11).

KEEPING PERSPECTIVE: NBCSPORTS.com's Peter King reports Rams coach Sean McVay gave out four game balls after the team's win to four employees in "football administration and operations." When approximately 90 players and staffers of the Rams were "evacuated from their homes because of the California wildfires that came within three miles of their workplace in Thousand Oaks," Manager of Football Operations Sophie Luoto and her crew "found lodging for them, reunited families, found a Saturday practice facility, and kept the train moving" (NBCSPORTS.com, 11/12). NFL Network's Steve Wyche noted he has heard "incredible stories how Rams ownership/management assured employees that they were financially covered for expenses incurred during relocations/evacuations because of the wildfires, which are near their training facility and where most players, coaches and staffers live" (TWITTER.com, 11/11).
