Mejdal, a former NASA engineer, "spearhead the original analytics team" commissioned by Astros President of Baseball Operations & GM JEFF LUHNOW "upon his hire" in '12. Mejdal "allowed his contract with the team to expire and will pursue other opportunities." Astros Senior Technical Architect RYAN HALLAHAN, who was hired with Mejdal in '12, will "leave the organization as well" (CHRON.com, 11/4).
