In L.A., Tom Hoffarth notes the NHL Kings are airing 10 Spanish-language broadcasts this season on ESPN Radio Deportes 1330 L.A., and the team's "immediate goal ... is expanding the brand in a major media market." Nearly 40% of L.A. County residents -- around 3.3 million people -- "speak Spanish as a primary language," and nearly 50% "identify as Hispanic or Latino." It had been 20 years since the "last Kings Spanish-language radio feed" (L.A. TIMES, 11/6).

OCTOBER SKY: The Brewers' postseason run helped WTMJ-AM, the team's flagship station, rank first "among overall listeners" for the October ratings book. WTMJ "had a 10.4 share of the overall listening audience" from Sept. 13-Oct. 10. That is "up from a 7.9 share in the previous monthly ratings scorecard" (MILWAUKEE JOURNAL SENTINEL, 11/6).

NEW ASSIGNMENTS: David Cobb has been named the new Grizzlies beat writer for the Memphis Commercial Appeal and will begin with tomorrow's game against the Nuggets. Cobb previously covered the Univ. of Tennessee for the Chattanooga Times Free Press (COMMERCIALAPPEAL.com, 11/5)....Tom Keegan is joining the Boston Herald as a columnist after having served as the sports editor and columnist for the Lawrence Journal-World in Kansas (BOSTONHERALD.com, 11/6).
