WeatherTech, Avocados From Mexico Return With Super Bowl Ads

Avocados From Mexico is "returning to the Super Bowl for the fifth consecutive year," with plans to air a "30-second spot in the second quarter," according to Jessica Wohl of AD AGE. The brand is "now working with" EnergyBBDO, Chicago, after having worked with GSD&M, Austin, on its "prior four Super Bowl spots." In its previous Super Bowl ads, Avocados From Mexico "advertised the fruit's year-round availability, good fat and versatility." While the company "hasn't started shooting its Super Bowl spot," it has "already tested five options from EnergyBBDO with consumers." There are "plans to have another celebrity appear," after Doug Flutie and Jerry Rice in '15, Scott Baio in '16, Jon Lovitz in '17 and Chris Elliott in '18. The company "declined to reveal who will appear in the upcoming ad" (ADAGE.com, 11/5).

HITTING SIXTH GEAR: AD AGE's Jeanine Poggi reported Illinois-based car mat maker WeatherTech is also "returning for its sixth consecutive Super Bowl." The company is "set to run one 45-second ad in Super Bowl LIII and will once again work" with Pinnacle Advertising, Schaumburg, for the spot. The creative is "undisclosed, but it's expected to once again lean into its 'Made of America' messaging." WeatherTech was the "first brand to confirm it will appear in the game" (ADAGE.com, 11/5).
