Geico Putting Logo On Jerseys For Wizards, Mystics, Go-Go

The Geico logo will be on the Wizards' jerseys Friday when the team plays the Thunder at Capital One Arena

Monumental Sports & Entertainment has signed a deal with Geico that puts the company’s logo on the jerseys of the Wizards, WNBA Mystics and NBA G League Capital City Go-Go. The deal makes the Wizards the 28th NBA team to have a jersey patch deal and the agreement also marks the first time a company has their logo on an NBA, WNBA and G League team jersey. The Geico logo will be on the Wizards jersey Friday when the team plays the Thunder at Capital One Arena. The Maryland-based company is a longtime Monumental Sports sponsor. “We were specific that we wanted a company that was national and deeply committed to the greater Washington community," said MS&E President of Business Operations & Chief Commercial Officer Jim Van Stone. He added the deal brings a "combination of the marquee asset with the jersey, signage, social and digital.” There also is a community outreach element to the agreement. No agencies were used in the deal. The only remaining NBA teams without jersey patch deals are the Pacers and Thunder (John Lombardo, THE DAILY). In DC, Scott Allen notes fans at Sunday's Knicks-Wizards game at Capital One Arena will "receive a Geico-branded Wizards jersey T-shirt." The Geico logo will appear "in larger font on the bottom of the front of their jerseys when they open their inaugural season on Saturday" (WASHINGTONPOST.com, 11/2).
