Kentucky Football Takes Out Times Square Ad Space To Promote Players

In addition to Snell's Times Square ad, UK has registered SnellYeah.com for the RBUNIV. OF KENTUCKY

The Univ. of Kentucky football team has bought ad space in Times Square "to promote" RB Benny Snell and LBs Josh Allen and Kash Daniel for postseason award consideration, according to Chris Fisher of 247SPORTS.com. UK had "already registered the domain names SnellYeah.com and DraftJosh41len.com" to promote the players. UK coach Mark Stoops said, "I thought those were pretty cool. A couple people ran that by me and I was all for it. We have some more coming. They deserve it." Allen is a semifinalist for both the Bednarik Award (top defensive player) and Butkus Award (top LB), and he has been "awarded SEC Defensive Player of the Week four times already this season." Snell is "one of 20 semifinalists for the Maxwell Award presented to college football's Collegiate Player of the Year," and also was selected as a midseason All-American by the AP (247SPORTS.com, 10/29).

GAME OF ALL GAMES: In Lexington, Mark Story notes No. 11 Kentucky takes on 6th-ranked Georgia on Saturday to decide the SEC East, and many are "proclaiming it to be the 'biggest game'" in the history of UK's Kroger Field. The '51 Sugar Bowl, when Bear Bryant’s one-loss UK upset No. 1 Oklahoma 13-7 to snap the Sooners’ 31-game win streak, is the "only football game Kentucky has ever played that was bigger than this Saturday’s" (KENTUCKY.com, 10/29).
