Overnight Ratings: Florida-Georgia Leads Weekend College Football

CBS led all college football telecasts in Week 9 with a 4.5 overnight rating for Georgia’s 36-17 win over Florida in the 3:30pm ET window, marking the highest-rated afternoon game of the season on any net. The game rating also was up 105% from a 2.2 last year for the same matchup, which Georgia won 42-7 after leading 21-0 in the first quarter. The game peaked at a 5.3 from 6:00-6:30pm. Two years ago, Georgia-Florida earned a 2.7 on CBS. In primetime, CBS drew a 1.7 overnight for Notre Dame's win over Navy, which was played in San Diego. Two years ago, the game aired in the 11:30am window and drew a 1.8. In '14, with a Georgia-Florida lead-in, the game drew a 2.4 on CBS. Meanwhile, Saturday’s Iowa-Penn State game in the 3:30pm window on ESPN drew a 1.8 overnight, up 157% from a 0.7 last year in the same time slot for Michigan State-Northwestern. In primetime on ESPN, Texas A&M-Mississippi State also saw an increase with a 1.3 overnight, up from a 0.8 for the same matchup last year. ABC drew a 2.4 overnight in primetime for Oklahoma State’s upset win over Texas, flat from ’17. ABC's noon game, featuring Clemson-Florida State, drew a 2.5 overnight, also flat from last year.

PEDAL TO THE METAL: NBCSN earned a 1.3 overnight yesterday afternoon for Joey Logano’s last-lap pass and win over Martin Truex Jr. in the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series race from Martinsville Speedway, down from a 1.6 last year. Two years ago, the race drew a 1.5 overnight.
