Monumental's Michelle Freeman Talks Gender Diversity In Sports

Freeman said she supports athletes like Kaepernick who use a peaceful demonstration like kneelingMICHELLE FREEMAN

Monumental Sports & Entertainment Partner MICHELLE FREEMAN is one of three female partners in the company, and said there is not a "ton of information about gender in sports ownership, but I've heard it said that the three of us represent one of the largest female ownerships in any ownership group." Freeman, appearing on Politico's "Women Rule" podcast, said she wants to "really give the credit" to MS&E Chair & CEO TED LEONSIS. She said, "When you see three women, that doesn't happen by mistake. That's someone that's saying this is important to the organization and I'm going to add these people -- this gender -- into an already really diverse group of people that he's put together to be in this ownership group." Meanwhile, Freeman said she supports athletes like COLIN KAEPERNICK who "use a peaceful demonstration, like kneeling, to raise our consciousness as Americans to say, 'Hey, there's something that we have to look at.'" Freeman: "That's what my husband fought for as a Green Beret -- the right for him to do that peacefully, respectfully. So, today I think these sports figures ... (are) using their platform for good and that's inspiring and beautiful" ("Women Rule," POLITICO.com, 10/24).
