Aaron Rodgers' New State Farm Ad Brings Back Belt Move

Packers QB Aaron Rodgers' "championship belt move is back" in his latest ad for State Farm, according to Kendra Meinert of the GREEN BAY PRESS-GAZETTE. Rodgers' "excitable sports agent in the ad, eager for a way to impress" Rodgers in front of his State Farm agent, "floats the idea of rolling out Rodgers' own line of cheese belts." Rodgers in the ad "looks on with a straight face" as the fictional agent, Gabe Gabriel, says, "We take the Wisconsin demo, put it in a fashion accessory, and you get to do your signature move." Meinert notes the ad is the "latest installment in the 'Agent vs. Agent' campaign that debuted at the start" of this NFL season. The ads focus on the "one-sided rivalry between Rodgers' insecure and competitive sports agent," Gabriel, and his "calm and professional State Farm agent, Patrick Minnis," who is an actual State Farm agent based in Tempe, Ariz. State Farm said that the "rivalry will heat up as the season goes on." Short ads have been "airing during Packers games in recent weeks," but the latest spot is the "first 30-second one since the original and also the funniest" (GREEN BAY PRESS-GAZETTE, 10/19).
