Media Notes

In N.Y., Mark Fischer noted WFAN's Mike Francesa "bailed on his week-long promise" to hop on his app following Yankees-Red Sox ALDS Game 2 on Saturday night. Francesa said of the 6-2 win for the Yankees, "If the game’s a blowout, I don’t do a postgame on the app. ... That game, we didn’t need to have it" (NYDAILYNEWS.com, 10/8).

TESTING THE WATERS: Golden Boy Promotions CEO Oscar De La Hoya said that he is "talking to a variety of outlets interested in the services" of Canelo Alvarez, the "biggest pay-per-view attraction in boxing." ESPN.com's Dan Rafael noted Alvarez has been under "exclusive contract to HBO" since '15, but the net recently announced that would "cease its involvement in boxing at the end of the year." De La Hoya is currently promoting Alvarez' next fight on Dec. 15 against Rocky Fielding at MSG. HBO "holds an option" on Alvarez' next fight, meaning it has the "right of a first negotiation and the last look." If the net makes an offer on the fight, De La Hoya has the "right to shop it to other outlets with HBO having the right to match any offer" (ESPN.com, 10/8).

MUCHO MAS: The Blackhawks' Spanish-language radio broadcast schedule has now grown to 25 games. Games air on WRTO-AM and are called by Hector Lozano and Omar Ramos. The outdoor contest against the Bruins at the '19 Bridgestone NHL Winter Classic will be the first Spanish-language broadcast of a Winter Classic since its inception (Blackhawks).
