Thunder Holding Outdoor Fan Festivals Before Dozen Home Games

The Thunder are planning a dozen outdoor fan festivals before games at Chesapeake Energy Arena this season. Six of those fan events are slated for October and November, including the home opener Oct. 21 against the Kings. The other six will be in March and April. Pregame fan fests with food and drink, music and kids events have become popular with NBA, NHL and other teams. The Thunder also will host a Native American Heritage Month in November. That includes events at three games and holding basketball camps at the Cherokee Nation and Muscogee Creek Nation. Cox Communications is sponsoring the camps. Oklahoma’s population is 9.2% Native American; only Alaska and New Mexico have higher percentages.
