NCAA To Allow Real-Time Stats On Bench During Upcoming Tourney

The NCAA has reached an agreement with Kansas-based basketball analytics outfit ShotTracker to allow real-time stats and analytics on benches during game play of the upcoming HOF Classic. The tournament, set for next month at Sprint Center in K.C., will involve Missouri State, Nebraska, Texas Tech and USC. The NCAA currently does not allow technology on team benches during men’s basketball competition. However, the organization granted a waiver for the HOF Classic that will make the tournament the first games in D-I history where coaches will have live access to real-time advanced analytics. Each player in the event will wear a ShotTracker sensor and the ball will also be outfitted with a sensor. ShotTracker investors include NBA Commissioner Emeritus David Stern and the Dodgers’ Elysian Park Ventures. “The power and applications of this technology will have a significant impact on college basketball,” said ShotTracker co-Founder & COO Davyeon Ross.
