Niels De Vos Selected To Oversee '21 IAAF World Championships

Oregon21, the entity managing the '21 IAAF World Championships in Eugene, on Friday "announced the hiring" of former UK Athletics CEO NIELS DE VOS as Exec Dir, according to Austin Meek of the Eugene REGISTER-GUARD. De Vos oversaw the '17 World Championships in London. He "replaces KATHY HERRMANN, who filled the role on an interim basis." De Vos left UK Athletics in September after "nearly 12 years" as CEO to "start his own sports consulting firm." He also previously served as Premiership Rugby side Sale Sharks CEO. De Vos is "expected to set up headquarters in Eugene" this week (Eugene REGISTER-GUARD 10/6). In Portland, Ken Goe noted De Vos was the Championships Dir for the '18 World Indoor Championships in England. Meanwhile, Herrmann "will remain with Oregon21 as a consultant" after a "transitional period" (Portland OREGONIAN, 10/6).
