Impact Increase Ticket Prices In Attempt To Improve Revenue

Average Impact ticket prices will be about $30 -- around $10 cheaper than the overall MLS mediumGETTY IMAGES

The Impact sent out season-ticket renewal notices last month, and there will be a "significant increase" on some seat prices, according to Stu Cowan of the MONTREAL GAZETTE. One fan who has had season tickets for the last five years said that his seats "were going up" 45% next year. Another longtime season-ticket holder with two seats in Saputo Stadium noted that his price "will increase" from $1,498 (all figures C) this season to $2,644 next year. Impact Exec VP/Strategic Development & Communications Richard Legendre recently said that the ticket strategy is designed to "find ways to increase revenue." He said, "We're doing this for the future of the club. Our president (Joey Saputo) said two years ago, at the beginning of the second-year cycle, we need this club to become profitable, viable, to actually break even, which hasn’t been the case at all in the last seven years." Legendre said that the Saputo Stadium seating chart for '19 "will have 10,000 seats priced between $18 and $26 per game if purchased as season tickets or as a group in advance." Fans wanting to sit closest to the action in the middle sections or in the upper rows, under the roof, will have to "pay a premium next year." Legendre added the average MLS ticket price is "about $40 now and that the Impact were at $25 last year, are now at $30 and are en route to $40" (MONTREAL GAZETTE, 10/8).
