Buyers & Sellers: Redskins Owner Dan Snyder Selling Home For $49M

Redskins Owner DAN SNYDER is listing his Potomac, Md. house for $49M. The property, which was inspired by an 18th century French château, has a “total footprint” of 15.2 acres. The 30,000-square-foot “main house,” which was completed in ’04, has “zinc gutters and a slate roof,” as well as two solariums. The main house also has a “large double-height drawing room, a formal dining room, a wine cellar, a library and a restaurant grade kitchen for entertaining.” There are “five bedrooms in total.” The property also includes a two-bedroom guesthouse, as well as “several loggias, a 12-car garage, a house manager’s residence and a vanishing edge waterfront swimming pool” (WALL STREET JOURNAL, 10/5).

HOOPS HOMES: Bulls G ZACH LAVINE bought a home in the North Side Lakeview neighborhood of Chicago for $3.25M. The Italianate-style mansion has five bedrooms and 8,000 square feet of space. The house also has five baths, as well as an "indoor atrium with a glass ceiling, limestone floors and stone walls." A lower level has a "guest suite, a theater and rec room, a gym and a wine room" (CHICAGOTRIBUNE.com, 9/28)....Former NBA player/coach RUDY TOMJANOVICH listed his home in the Cheviot Hills neighborhood of L.A. for $3.475M. The 3,930-square-foot home "includes five bedrooms, 4.25 bathrooms, a formal dining room and an office." The home backs up to the Rancho Park Golf Course, and glass-paneled doors lead to a "covered rear patio that runs the length of the home" (LATIMES.com, 10/3).

AROUND THE DIAMOND: Indians 1B YONDER ALONSO listed his "penthouse condo in Miami Beach" for $1.995M. The condo "sits atop the oceanfront MEi Condominium building and takes in ocean views from terraces on both levels." Walls of glass "brighten the whitewashed space," which holds two bedrooms and 2.5 bathrooms in 1,556 square feet of living space (LATIMES.com, 9/27)....Former MLBer DAVID DEJESUS relisted his 15-room, "all-brick mansion" in Wheaton, Ill. for $1.295M. The five-bedroom, 6,713-square-foot home was built in '92 and has six baths, new walnut floors, a "newer kitchen and a 3,133-square-foot finished basement with a rec room, bath, bedroom and bar" (CHICAGOTRIBUNE.com, 10/2).

BUYERS & SELLERS: FS1's COLIN COWHERD "sold one of two homes he owns" in Manhattan Beach, Calif., for $3.25M. The two-story house has "more than 3,700 square feet of living space," and a total of five bedrooms and 4.5 bathrooms. The home's landscaped grounds "include a small paver patio and a built-in barbecue." A three-car garage also "sits off a rear alley" (LATIMES.com, 10/2).

PROPERTY PROFILE: In Portland, Janet Eastman examined properties in the area that were "owned by sports stars." Successful athletes "want luxury and privacy when they're home, but they also desire a few perks" people may not think to ask for, such as a "pool on a cantilever deck." Some other "cool features" typical of athlete homes include backyards leading into lakes or a "private wine cellar." Ultimately, what professional athletes "really need" is privacy, which means "gated properties with acreage" (OREGONLIVE.com, 9/29).
