WBZ Tops WEEI For Top Spot In Boston's Summer Radio Ratings

Boston-based WBZ-FM and WEEI-FM "finished 1-2 in the summer Nielsen Audio ratings in their most desired demographic" -- adults 25-54 -- while WEEI’s “Kirk & Callahan” show beat out WBZ' “Toucher & Rich” program in the "always competitive morning drive," according to Chad Finn of the BOSTON GLOBE. In afternoon drive (2:00-6:00pm ET) from June 21-Sept. 12, WBZ' "Felger & Massarotti" finished first, while WEEI was second in the window, with its "Dale & Keefe" show "switching from afternoon drive to middays on Aug. 13." However, WEEI "vaults to the top spot" in the midday window with audience numbers contributed by Providence-based WVEI, which simulcasts WEEI programming. But Nielsen advises that the WVEI audience "should not be added to the WEEI share" (BOSTON GLOBE, 10/4).
