ISM Raceway Offers Preview Of $178M Track Renovations

A new start-finish line and renovated grandstand are among the changes at the trackISM

ISM Raceway hosted a free sneak peek event for fans yesterday, giving them a look at the final touches being put on a $178M renovation. The Phoenix-area track hosts the Can-Am 500 Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series semifinal playoff race on Nov. 11. There will be a new start-finish line in front of a renovated west grandstand along with a new infield that will have a more open victory lane. Existing grandstands exposed to the relentless Arizona heat were torn down. West side stands that benefit from shade in the afternoon were expanded and modernized. “For most of the day the sun will be at our fans backs from now on instead of on the front stretch fans sitting there and having the sun beat on them all day long,” said ISM Raceway VP/Sales & Communications Scott Rovn. The renovations were designed by architecture firms Rossetti and DLR Group. Okland Construction has led the construction effort which includes new fan zones and a revamped midway. Yesterday’s event also featured drivers testing out tires.
