Chiefs Get Flooded With Requests For Mahomes Amid Success

Mahomes' agent said he will wait to sign any big deals until the coming offseasonGETTY IMAGES

The Chiefs are "receiving hundreds of interview requests each week" for QB Patrick Mahomes that include requests for "sponsorships and endorsements and business deals," as well as community appearances, according to Dave Skretta of the AP. The team has had to "limit the number" the number of appearances Mahomes conducts "to a handful that he can squeeze into a short time period on Wednesday afternoons" (AP, 10/1). Mahomes' agent, Leigh Steinberg, said that he will have "no big deals until the offseason." He added that it is "all part of a plan" to make sure the QB "keeps a level head throughout his first year as a starter." Steinberg: "We're being very, very careful to allow this season to proceed without his face on every billboard." He added, "Once the season is successfully over, then we'll go into marketing in a lot of different brand categories." Steinberg said that Mahomes "could be on a cereal box near you this winter" (TMZ.com, 9/26).
