Future Name Of Hartford Ballpark Unclear After Dunkin' Brand Change

The Dunkin' logo is especially visible on a large sign above the park's front gatesYARD GOATS

Dunkin' Brands is "dropping the word 'donuts'" from its coffee chain logo, but what that means for the Double-A Eastern League Hartford Yard Goats' ballpark's namesake is "still unclear," according to a front-page piece by Jenna Carlesso of the HARTFORD COURANT. City leaders have "not heard" whether the ballpark's name "will change" from Dunkin' Donuts Park. Dunkin' said that it is "still weighing what to do at the ballpark." Dunkin' in a statement yesterday said it has not "made any final decisions" regarding the branding of the Hartford ballpark. Carlesso notes Dunkin' pays "at least a quarter of a million dollars per year for the ballpark's naming rights." The venue opened in '17 after a "year of construction delays." The chain's logo is "sprinkled heavily throughout the park, from the enormous cup perched on top of the scoreboard -- that emits steam when the Yard Goats hit a home run -- to advertisements along the lower walls, a large sign above the front gates and the double-D symbols on doors" (HARTFORD COURANT, 9/26). Dunkin' spokesperson Chris Raia said no decision has been made regarding the name of the Dunkin' Donuts Center in Providence. Raia said the new Dunkin' brand will be used on radio and other advertising in the near future, with signage at stores across the country expected to go up as early as January (THE DAILY).
