Leonsis Hoping New Facility Helps Wizards Follow Capitals Lead

The St. Elizabeth East Entertainment & Sports Arena is also home to the Mystics and Capital City Go-GoWIZARDS

The Wizards this season will have a new practice facility at their disposal, and it is "much more than just added space, new locker rooms and shiny courts," according to Chase Hughes of NBCSPORTSWASHINGTON.com. The Wizards will "have at their disposal the newest training technology and all the medical resources they need." The St. Elizabeth East Entertainment & Sports Arena opened last week and is home to the Wizards, WNBA Mystics and G League Capital City Go-Go. Monumental Sports & Entertainment Chair & CEO Ted Leonsis said the Wizards have "one of the highest payrolls in the league," as well as a "beautiful, world-class practice facility." Leonsis said, "They're healthy entering the year. Alright Wizards. If you have this practice facility and one of the highest payrolls in the league and you're getting well-tended for your health, nutrition and the like; no excuses. Let's play ball" (NBCSPORTSWASHINGTON.com, 9/22).

BETTER SWEATER: In DC, J.J. Regan noted the Capitals "revealed their third jersey for the season" yesterday, and it "should look very familiar." The Capitals decided to "stick with their vintage look" going with their original red jersey, a look the team "used as its alternate prior to the switch to Adidas." The decision is a "smart one considering the original red jersey is the best look this team has sported in its history" (NBCSPORTSWASHINGTON.com, 9/24).
