Brewers' Potential Playoff Run Sparking Merchandise, Ticket Sales

The Brewers are "in the hunt" for the NL Central crown or a Wild Card berth, and team execs are anticipating a "banner year for merchandise sales, season-ticket renewals and keeping fans engaged," according to Rich Kirchen of the MILWAUKEE BUSINESS JOURNAL. Brewers COO Rick Schlesinger said that attendance at Miller Park "will exceed 2.8 million this season," up from 2.6 million in '17, and will "rank as the highest" since the team's '11 playoff run. The Brewers' nine remaining home games "will be meaningful and Schlesinger anticipates strong attendance." The team is already "selling playoff tickets to existing season ticket holders who renew" for '19 and to fans who "sign up as new season ticket holders." Schlesinger said that the response has "been good" and he predicts that renewals for '19 "could be the best" since '12. He added that if the team reaches the playoffs, fan enthusiasm "will translate to a spike in merchandise sales." Schlesinger said, "We're going to try to make sure [we] have the right inventory. The demand usually outstrips the supply" (BIZJOURNALS.com, 9/9).
