Arris Contractually Bound To Stay at JGR Even If Its Driver Leaves

JGR is working on a deal to replace Daniel Suarez with Martin Truex Jr. in the No. 19 carGETTY IMAGES

Joe Gibbs Racing sponsor Arris is contractually bound to stay with the team during the '19 Cup season even with driver Daniel Suarez' expected move away from JGR's No. 19 Toyota, according to sources. Suarez' future has been thrown into doubt in recent weeks after it was revealed that JGR is working on a deal to move Martin Truex Jr. into the No. 19 and shift Suarez to an alliance partner. It is unclear if Suarez already agreed to the move, which would likely see him in Leavine Family Racing's No. 95. Sources said that one potentially complicating factor for Suarez if he wants to move away from JGR/Toyota is that Arris is signed with JGR, not Suarez, and the team is believed to be intent on keeping the company. That is despite the fact that Suarez has personal connections to Arris by virtue of being backed by Carlos Slim Domit, whose Mexico-based telecommunications company is a significant customer of Arris. Stewart Haas Racing's No. 41 entry has been mentioned as a possible landing spot for Suarez if he leaves JGR, but a source said that SHR likely would not be interested in Suarez without Arris. Arris' marketing agency in NASCAR is MKTG.
