Kansas State Unveils Plans For $230M Worth Of Facility Upgrades

The Kansas State athletic department "unveiled plans" for $230M in facility upgrades as part of AD Gene Taylor’s "master plan," according to Kellis Robinett of the WICHITA EAGLE. The plan "aims to renovate current athletic structures across K-State athletics, such as Bramlage Coliseum, and build new facilities for teams that require them, like volleyball." Highlights include $85M in renovations for Bramlage, $29M for upgrades behind the south end zone at Bill Snyder Family Stadium, $24.45M for a "new indoor football practice facility" and $17.5M for a "new volleyball arena." The plan also calls for $10M in "upgrades to K-State’s soccer and baseball stadiums," though those projects are "already underway." KSU plans to fund the upgrades mostly with "philanthropic gifts from donors." But Taylor said the school might also "supplement funding plans through operating revenues depending on the annual financial performance of the department." It is "unclear which of these projects will take priority" (WICHITA EAGLE, 9/8). The MANHATTAN MERCURY noted the south end zone project at Snyder Stadium will include a "new club/suite premium seating area, expanded Legends Room event space, upgraded restrooms and concessions and new video boards." Taylor indicated that his 10-15-year plan "will benefit all 16 Wildcat athletic programs." He said the school will receive "assistance" from architecture consultancy HOK (MANHATTAN MERCURY, 9/8).
