Pop culture trivia meets fantasy sports in Yahoo Fantasy Slate, a weekly prediction contest set to debut on Wednesday, Sept. 12 inside the Yahoo Sports mobile app.

Users will be asked a variety of sports or pop culture questions that they must submit answers for prior to the start of the first event. Weekly cash prizes are offered to those who answer the most questions correctly.

Will Tiger Woods finish in the top 10 this weekend? Who scores more runs this weekend, the A’s or the Astros? Will A-Rod propose to J-Lo by next week?

“Yahoo Fantasy Slate gamifies our app for the first time and creates an immersive experience that our fans can interact and engage with,” said Geoff Reiss, GM of Yahoo Sports, in a press release. “Adding this game to our offering of season-long live football games and original programming, our fans will find the full football experience on the Yahoo Sports app.”

Questions are curated by members of the Yahoo Sports’ editorial team. The format varies between will they/won’t they, over/under, or straight matchups.

SportTechie Takeaway

The Yahoo Sports app has been bolstered significantly ahead of the upcoming NFL season, starting with the fact that NFL games across every window will be live-streamed free for fans to watch without any authentication step, as part of parent company Verizon’s deal with the NFL.

On top of this trivia game, Yahoo Sports is debuting three original programs this NFL season, including Mostly Football hosted by former NFL tight end Martellus Bennett.
