Sources said that the CBS BOD is "negotiating a possible exit" for CEO LES MOONVES and "asking for assurances of autonomy from controlling shareholder National Amusements." The sources said that if "terms can be reached for an exit" for Moonves, CBS COO JOE IANNIELLO would become interim CEO (WALL STREET JOURNAL, 9/7).

BAD INVESTMENTS: Former NBAer KEVIN GARNETT "claims in a lawsuit that an accountant and his firm helped a now-imprisoned wealth manager steal" $77M from him. The federal malpractice lawsuit alleges that Louisville-based accountant MICHAEL WERTHEIM and Welenken CPAs knowingly helped financial advisor CHARLES BANKS IV "defraud Garnett over several years through business ventures in which Garnett and Banks shared an interest" (Minneapolis STAR TRIBUNE, 9/7).

AWARDS & HONORS: Baseball HOFer JIM THOME is the '18 recipient of the Stan Musial Lifetime Achievement Award. Thome will be honored at the Musial Awards in St. Louis on Nov. 17 (St. Louis Sports Commission)....South Florida Sun Sentinel sports columnist DAVE HYDE will be inducted into the Broward County Sports HOF on Oct. 23. Hyde has worked at the paper since '90 (SUN-SENTINEL.com, 9/6)....Houston Chronicle photojournalist KAREN WARREN will be inducted into the Houston Baseball Media Wall of Honor next Friday, becoming the first photojournalist to receive this honor since the award's inception in '07 (Astros). 

THE GOOD STUFF: ESPN's OLIVIA HARLAN DEKKER and her husband, Cavaliers F SAM DEKKER, "raised over $65,000" for the Children's Cancer Family Foundation during their wedding after asking for donations instead of gifts (SHEBOYGAN PRESS, 9/7)....Silver Medal-winning U.S. swimmer ELIZABETH BEISEL and members of Swim Across America "visited Women & Infants Murray Family Infusion Center and the Carter Family Integrative Care Center in Providence on Thursday" (PROVIDENCE JOURNAL, 9/7).

NAMES: Sources said that Cavaliers Owner DAN GILBERT is "looking to exit the casino business, including properties in Cleveland, Cincinnati and Detroit." Deutsche Bank and Credit Suisse are representing Jack Entertainment, Gilbert's casino company, in the sale process, and Caesars Entertainment is "among the possible bidders that have expressed interest in some properties" (CRAINSDETROIT.com, 9/6)....Canadiens LW MAX PACIORETTY hired Octagon's ALLAN WALSH to rep him. Pacioretty was previously repped by CAA's PAT BRISSON (MONTREALGAZETTE.com, 9/6)....CHARLES BARKLEY is headlining a fundraiser for Sen. DOUG JONES (D-Ala.) on Sept. 25 in DC. The event costs $2,500 for the sit down dinner or up to $1,000 for the cocktail reception (THE DAILY).
