League Notes

The USL on Saturday night surpassed 2 million fans in total attendance for the season. The league has now officially welcomed 2,074,401 fans throughout the first three-quarters of its regular-season schedule this year (USL).

POSITIVE IMPACT: In Calgary, Kristen Anderson wrote the "ripple effect" of golfer Brooke Henderson being the first Canadian in 45 years to win the LPGA CP Women's Open and her "trajectory in the game is surely to be felt by youngsters -- male and female -- across Canada for many years down the road." Henderson said, "When I was 14, they started to say I was the 'Face of Canadian golf,' which is pretty crazy. But I feel like I've embraced the role a little bit better every year, just getting a little bit better at it" (CALGARY SUN, 8/28).

POSSIBLE HEIR? NASCAR Camping World Truck Series GM Ben Kennedy, the great-grandson of late NASCAR Founder Bill France Sr., said he could "possibly" be interested in holding the role of NASCAR CEO one day. Kennedy: "I hope to continue to climb the ladder as I did on the racing side and kind of taking it one step at a time" (MOTORSPORT.com, 8/28).
