Murray said the idea of becoming a broadcaster was always in the back of his mindgetty images

In Dallas, Jori Epstein reports Fox Sports has added former NFLer DeMarco Murray to its "college football broadcast team." Murray beginning on Aug. 31 will join play-by-play man Justin Kutcher and analyst Petros Papadakis for a "full slate of weekly Fox college games this fall." He said, "It was something I've always kind of had in the back of my mind to accomplish and get done. Obviously, having great friends like [Tony] Romo and [Jason Witten], seeing what they were able to do in a year definitely pushed it a little further as well." Murray "jumped at the opportunity to audition late with Fox this summer" (DALLAS MORNING NEWS, 8/21). Murray recently signed with The Montag Group for representation in broadcasting (THE DAILY).

MAKING HIS RETURN: In Oklahoma City, Brett Dawson notes Matt Pinto this season will "return as the radio play by play voice of the Thunder," who renewed their "broadcast partnership with Cumulus Radio." The renewed deal will "keep Thunder games" on WWLS-FM. Pinto will be back for his 11th season, and will "continue to host the weekly Thunder Full Court Press" on WWLS. The agreement also "keeps Thunder Spanish broadcasts" on Cumulus station WKY-AM with announcer Eleno Ornelas (OKLAHOMAN, 8/21).

COME AGAIN? In Chicago, Phil Rosenthal writes Bears analyst Jim Miller is "normally level-headed," but when he compared QB Mitchell Trubisky to Pro Football HOFer Steve Young during Saturday’s preseason game with the Broncos, it "earned a chuckle." One would imagine Bears management would be "seeking to tap the brakes on that kind of runaway hyperbole." But Miller’s remarks "came on the team’s own co-produced telecast Saturday night" on WFLD-Fox and was "accompanied by graphics to showcase the sentiment, making clear this was anything but off the cuff." Miller "wasn’t talking so much about the game he was calling" so much as "returning to the burnished memory of Trubisky’s final college game for North Carolina" (CHICAGO TRIBUNE, 8/21).
