Franchise Notes

In Dallas, Eddie Sefko cites sources as saying that the investigation into the Mavericks' front-office scandal "remains in idle, awaiting input and possible sanctions from the NBA as well as ensuring that details in the investigators' report are double-checked." The hope is that the results "can be made public next week," but there is "no firm timetable" (DALLAS MORNING NEWS, 8/21).

HEAD IN THE GAME: In Charlotte, Rick Bonnell notes the Hornets are "going the bobblehead route to celebrate some of the most historic figures" in their 30-year NBA history. Among a series of “Classic Night” promotions at home games next season, the Hornets "will give away bobbleheads" depicting former Hornets Muggsy Bogues, Larry Johnson and Glen Rice and longtime play-by-play voice Steve Martin. The Hornets will "wear white versions of the classic pinstripes-and-pleats uniforms from the NBA’s first decade in Charlotte." Also, the Hornets will have a court "painted similarly to the design" from the mid-'90s at the old Charlotte Coliseum (CHARLOTTE OBSERVER, 8/21).

MUST-SEE IN CINCY: In Cincinnati, Steve Watkins noted FC Cincinnati has "broken" the USL single-season attendance record. With a crowd of 27,142 at Nippert Stadium on Saturday, the club "pushed its home regular-season attendance this year to 352,709." That "tops FC Cincinnati’s prior USL attendance record of 339,181 set last season," and the club "still has three home games remaining" on this season’s schedule (BIZJOURNALS.com, 8/20).
