Weekend Plans With Player Tokens' Kush Parikh: Karate Classes, Golf

KUSH PARIKH is the Founder & CEO of Player Tokens, a Seattle-based company that has partnered with the MLBPA to turn crypto-collectibles into a modern-day baseball card. Parikh, an all-around sports fan and Mariners season-ticket holder, talked to THE DAILY about his plans for the coming days, his family’s top weekend getaway and his love for throwback TV.

Parikh likes to watch golf majors and enjoyed watching Woods' back nine in the PGA Championship KUSH PARIKH

GETTING THE NAME OUT THERE: This week we focused on enhancing our product quickly so that our users will have a great experience collecting on our platform. We’ve also been working on raising awareness, and this week we had the privilege of being featured on Yahoo Finance's Midday Movers, as well as some nice trade publications.

WEEKEND AGENDA: This weekend is "quiet," which is a bit of a nice respite from typical weekends. My older daughter (AASHA) will have a couple of karate classes and my younger daughter (AANYA) has gymnastics on Saturday. Those are the anchor activities on Saturday and Sunday, and I will be co-shuttle driver along with my wife ALPA. It’s likely that I will sneak in a round of golf either Saturday or Sunday afternoon, chasing an elusive even par round which I last shot seven years ago. In the evenings, we will likely head out to dinner at least once, and I am sure there will be a barbeque or pool party invite sprinkled in somewhere

TEE IT FORWARD: Golf is my number one thing to do. I will wake up at 5:00am to go out and get in 18 holes if I have my foursome ready to go. I have a few different groups that I play with. I especially like to watch the golf majors, and loved watching TIGER WOODS on the back nine at the PGA Championship last week. Then, as far as watching sports live, college football is probably my favorite, followed by college hoops. I have Mariners season tickets, so I take in a game often as well. They’re having their first good season in a while, and I’m holding on with bated breath to see if we can squeak into the playoffs, but it’s a tight race with the A’s.

LOCAL SPOTS: The Golf Club at Newcastle has a great restaurant and bar with a pretty spectacular view for drinks and dinner where you can look out onto the city and the mountains in the background. That’s my favorite place for overall atmosphere. And then Seattle has so many great restaurants, it’s hard to pick one. TOM DOUGLAS has so many great places, and then we have about 70 restaurants within walking distance of my house. For a getaway, we like to go out east to Coeur d'Alene, Idaho, which is about a four-hour drive. That’s the upper desert where it’s always sunny and we can enjoy the lake, golf and a nice downtown area. The quiet is good too. Then for a longer weekend, we might shoot down to Phoenix or somewhere like that where we can get some guaranteed sun.

CHANNEL SURF: I’m not much of a binge-TV watcher. I’m more of a throwback. I watch old shows and am a bit out-of-touch when it comes to the new stuff. I did watch Amazon’s “GOLIATH” with BILLY BOB THORNTON. That’s the most recent one where I watched both seasons just in the last couple months. Otherwise, I’m an old-school “FRASIER” and “WEST WING” guy. I also watch some cooking shows with my kids. They like the competitions, so I’ll sit down and enjoy those with them every once in a while.
