Former NBAer Junior Bridgeman Among Finalists In SI Bidding

Bridgeman said he anticipates finding out more about his bid by the middle of the monthgetty images

Former NBAer Junior Bridgeman, who has transitioned into "one of the sports world's richest retirees, has emerged as a serious bidder" for SI, according to Tim Sullivan of the Louisville COURIER-JOURNAL. Bridgeman called SI an "iconic brand" and said, "The next part of our analysis is there are other things, other areas that we can go. ... (But) In this world, you can’t be overly optimistic." A source said that a $125M bid for SI from Devils and 76ers Managing Partner Josh Harris was "rejected." Bridgeman said of that bid, "I would think that ($125 million) would not quite get it done." A source said that Bridgeman and a group that includes Cavaliers Owner Dan Gilbert and motivational speaker Tony Robbins are "still standing." But Sullivan noted there "may be others." Bridgeman said that he was "not sure where he stood" at this point, but "expects to know more by the middle of the month." Bridgeman: "I don’t know exactly where they are (in the process),” he said. “You don’t know whether anything’s going to happen" (Louisville COURIER-JOURNAL, 8/6).
