The MLS BOG "approved changes in DC United's investment group," which will keep Managing General Partner & CEO Jason Levien as the "face of ownership and welcome several of his partners" from Championship club Swansea City, according to Steven Goff of the WASHINGTON POST. Sources said that Levien will "expand his alliance" with Grizzlies investor Steve Kaplan and at least four other Swansea City investors. Combined, the group will "claim the majority stake" in DC United. Previously, the group "did business" with the Grizzlies. Levien and Kaplan have also "partnered in esports and technology ventures." Sources said that Swansea City minority investor Al Tylis will also "buy a stake" in DC United's investment group. Other investors "have not been identified." Levien also "seems likely to retain his title as CEO." The transaction will "mark the end" of DC United General Partner Erick Thohir's six-year involvement with the team (WASHINGTON POST, 8/3).
