Predators Spending $12M On Several Bridgestone Arena Upgrades

Bridgestone Arena will turn 22 years old during the upcoming NHL season BRIDGESTONE ARENA

The Predators will "substantially upgrade" Bridgestone Arena's audiovisual system as part of a $12M renovation project which is adding more LED lighting, a "modern sound system and overhauling the control room," according to a front-page piece by Nate Rau of the Nashville TENNESSEAN. The team is also "overhauling its wall and glass board system." When a Predator player "scores a goal this season," the stanchions -- the poles that hold the glass boards together -- will "light up with LED lights." All of the renovations are expected to be "completed before the team's home opener" Oct. 9. Bridgestone Arena will "turn 22 years old during the upcoming season." Improvements to the arena's AV system, which will cost $8.5M, will come from "capital dollars generated by user fees added onto tickets for events at the arena." The Predators will also "install more self-serve concessions kiosks throughout the arena, renovate the team store near the front entrance, and add a new concourse bar/gathering place next to the large team store in the concourse." Two years after the Twice Daily grab-and-go convenience store-style concept was first installed at the arena, team President & CEO Sean Henry said that the offering has been "so successful that the Predators will be adding a third this season." The upgrade that will "affect the fan experience the most" is the improved AV system. About $2M of the renovations will be "paid for" by the team's concessionaire, Buffalo-based Delaware North (Nashville TENNESSEAN, 8/1).
