Packers Hope Experience Event Shows NFL Draft Hosting Potential

The Packers "would like to host" the NFL Draft in '21 or later, and team officials think the inaugural Packers Experience is an opportunity to show the NFL that it can "deliver the level of activity and excitement needed" to host a draft, according to a front-page piece by Richard Ryman of the GREEN BAY PRESS-GAZETTE. The NFL, which is "planning its own 100th anniversary celebration, has looked closely at the Packers Experience plans" and will have "high-level representatives on hand for the event," which begins Thursday. The free Packers Experience is "part of 16 months of the Packers celebrating their 100th year of football," which will culminate with the team's 100th anniversary on Aug. 11, 2019. Packers VP/Marketing & Fan Engagement Gabrielle Valdez Dow said, "If I only had a couple hours to spare, I would stop in the Legacy Dream Theater to watch the sneak peek of the Packers (100 years) documentary, then I'd stop at the Packers locker room." The "recreated and smaller version of the locker room" will be located near the statues of team icons Vince Lombardi and Curly Lambeau that face Lombardi Avenue. The locker room includes 18 lockers and "video screens showing scenes from the actual locker room." ESPN's "NFL Live" will air from the Packers Experience at 12:30pm CT on Thursday and Friday, and NFL Network's "Inside Training Camp Live" will air at 9:00am CT on Friday and Saturday (GREEN BAY PRESS-GAZETTE, 7/24).
