The powerful image of dozens of survivors from the Larry Nassar sex abuse scandal sharing a stage at last night's ESPY Awards while accepting the Arthur Ashe Courage Award crossed over to the network morning shows today. All three shows teased coverage of the event in their opening montages. “CBS This Morning” and ABC’s “GMA” aired reports within the first 17 minutes of their broadcasts, with CBS using the headline “Sister Survivors” and ABC airing “Powerful Night at the ESPY Awards.” CBS’ Gayle King called it a "powerful tribute.” ABC’s T.J. Holmes noted the ESPY Awards are “about celebrating athletic achievement, but it’s also about celebrating athletes for what they do outside of their (sports).” NBC’s “Today” aired a report in its second half-hour using the headline “Emotional Night at the ESPYS.” The second hour of “Today” featured a live interview with Olympic figure skater Adam Rippon, who was serving as a special correspondent at the ESPYs. NBC’s Craig Melvin called it “one of the most memorable scenes probably in an awards show that we’ve seen in some time."
