The HOLLYWOOD REPORTER's Eriq Gardner reported Fox and Muhammad Ali Enterprises will settle a $30M lawsuit over the net's use of the "boxer's image in a Super Bowl promo." MAE, which "asserts ownership of the legendary boxer's likeness filed suit" in October '17, contending that a three-minute video before the Super Bowl that year "violated publicity rights and represented a false endorsement." Terms of the settlement "weren't disclosed" (HOLLYWOODREPORTER.com, 7/17).

STRUCK GOLD: USA TODAY's Josh Peter notes Gold Medal-winning U.S. curler Matt Hamilton's mustache "set him apart," and soon after his return from the Pyeongchang Games, he was sponsored by Walmart's Remington Beard Bosses. Hamilton joked that the one-year deal was worth "enough for my wife to let me keep it" (USA TODAY, 7/19).

BOILER PLATE: In Indiana, Dan McGowan reported Purdue and Indianapolis-based merchandising company MainGate are "teaming up on athletic and school merchandise." The agreement "involves sales" on the campus, online through PurdueTeamStore.com and as the school's "official wholesale products provider." MainGate's other merch partners include the Pacers, Bucks, Redskins, Vikings and Titans. MainGate has also "been a retail partner for multiple recent Super Bowls" (INSIDEINDIANABUSINESS.com, 7/17).

RUNNING WITH THE RAMS: Rhode Island announced a multiyear partnership extension with Adidas as the school's official athletic footwear. With the five-year deal, Adidas will supply footwear to URI's 16 teams through the '22-23 season (URI).
