MLB Expands Relationship With Amazon Web Services

MLB has expanded its existing relationship with Amazon Web Services (AWS) to have the company designated as the league’s official provider for machine learning, AI and deep learning workloads. The new level of alignment will allow AWS to use machine learning in the continued development of MLB’s Statcast, as well as other fan engagement projects both in and out of ballparks. The use of AWS machine learning is also expected to help streamline the league’s efforts around scorekeeping and pitch tracking. MLB has worked with AWS since ’15. “Incorporating machine learning into our systems and practices is a great way to take understanding of the game to a whole new level for our fans and the 30 clubs,” said MLB Chief Technology Officer Jason Gaedtke.
