Atlanta United Season-Ticket Holders Irked By Price Increases

Some ticket holders are experiencing price increases as high as 28.5% compared to the inaugural '17 seasonGETTY IMAGES

Atlanta United season-ticket holders have begun receiving "notifications of increases that range from $2 to $15 per game for the 18-game package," and they "aren't thrilled with price increases to renew" for the '19 season, according to Doug Roberson of the ATLANTA JOURNAL-CONSTITUTION. The club said that the increases are "because of a variety of factors, including seat location, founding member/non-founding member status and demand." Some ticket holders are "experiencing price increases as high" as 28.5% compared to the inaugural '17 season. Some of those fans said that they have been "told by sales reps that the increases are partially a result of a sharp increase in resale values on secondary markets this season, that this is the resulting market correction, and that significant increases aren't expected next season." This offseason's rise is "considerably steeper than the team enacted" between the '17 and '18 seasons. The "most expensive" ticket in '17 was $4,050, or $225 per game, whereas the most expensive in '18 is $8,820, or $490 per game. A "perceived lack of communication aggravated some season-ticket holders." But most said that they will "continue to pay" (ATLANTA JOURNAL-CONSTITUTION, 7/13).
