Cavs' Dan Gilbert Joins Group Bidding For Sports Illustrated

Gilbert's bid group is also interested in purchasing the Fortune and Money publicationsRICK OSENTOSKI

Cavaliers Owner Dan Gilbert and motivational speaker Tony Robbins are "part of a group bidding to buy Sports Illustrated and several other former Time Inc. titles" from Meredith Corp., according to Keith Kelly of the N.Y. POST. Final bids for SI are due today at 5:00pm ET. Sources said that the bid group is "being headed" by California-based Velocity Group Founder & CEO Joshua Pollack, who previously "helped run Relativity Media." The bid group is also "interested in buying Fortune and Money." Since the Supreme Court opened up legalized sports gambling, SI "appears to be drawing the most interest from potential suitors." Meredith is "said to still be holding hope" that SI will fetch at least $200M. However, sources said that a sale price in that range is "not realistic." James Finkelstein, who serves as Chair of political publication The Hill, "remains in the hunt for SI," as does Endeavor co-CEO Ari Emanuel. Sources said that Endeavor co-President Mark Shapiro is "coordinating the group's bid" (N.Y. POST, 7/2).
