"Counter-Strike" Pros Consolidate To Form New Players Association

About 90 pro "Counter-Strike: Global Offensive" players have "announced the formation of the Counter-Strike Professional Players Association (CSPPA)," formalizing "unofficial groups that have previously existed over the past few years," according to Jacob Wolf of ESPN.com. The CSPPA "elected seven players from around the globe to serve on its board." Daily operations will be run by legal advisor Michael Doi, who said that the organization's "main goal is to assist players with legal advice and in negotiating and signing contracts with teams and organizations." The CSPPA "hopes to become a collective bargaining arm" for "CS:GO" players and is "open for any player who is contracted or seeking a contract to compete at an elite level" (ESPN.com, 6/29).
