FERNANDO SOLER, the head of IMG tennis, is stepping down at the end of August. One of the more powerful figures in the sport, he oversees a vast array of clients and events, including SERENA WILLIAMS. “We are grateful to Fernando for his vision, passion, commitment and tireless effort, and wish him well in his next chapter,” IMG Events President SAM ZUSSMAN said in a statement. A source said after 30 years, Soler was ready to step aside. He could still serve as a consultant after August. A search for his successor will commence shortly. Soler started as an agent with IMG in ‘87 and was made head of tennis 12 years ago (Daniel Kaplan, Staff Writer).

EXECS: NFL Giants Assistant GM KEVIN ABRAMS has added the title of VP/Football Operations. He has been with the team since '99. The Giants also promoted MARK KONCZ to Dir of Player Personnel and promoted CHRIS PETTIT to Dir of College Scouting (AP, 6/20)....The NFLPA named former Bills GM DOUG WHALEY Dir of College Scouting. Whaley served as Bills GM from '13-17 and replaces TONY SOFTLI, who stepped down to become American Alliance of Football Dir of Scouting (NFLPA)....Auburn named Notre Dame Assistant AD & Monogram Club Exec Dir BRANT UST Associate AD/Administration (Auburn).
