EA Sports Taps P.K. Subban To Appear On Cover Of "NHL 19"

Predators D P.K. Subban last night at the NHL Awards in Las Vegas was unveiled as the "cover athlete" for EA Sports' "NHL 19," according to the CP. Oilers C Connor McDavid was "featured on the cover" last year (CP, 6/20). Subban said being on the cover "represents growth in our game, embracing different personalities and, most of all, that anything's possible" ("NHL Awards," NBCSN, 6/20). Subban said he is "pretty excited" about the fact that people will be "going to the store to buy the new NHL game with my face on it." The cover features Subban in mid-celebration, and he said "it's great to show emotion, especially in an emotional sport." Subban added he remembers the first time he did his celebratory move and it "didn't go without some pushback or some blowback." He said it was his "first-ever overtime-winning goal" and mimicked shooting arrows into the crowd. Subban: "There was a bunch of players that were asked about it, and most of them didn't care. They were just like, 'You can celebrate,' but we obviously seen over my career people have a little bit more to say about it" (TORONTOSUN.com, 6/20).
