The KPMG Women's Leadership Summit will be held Monday, and the goal of the event is to "take knowledgeable, experienced and proven females across sports, politics, media and business to celebrate women who have forged impressive career paths and inspire future generations of women leaders," according to Golf Channel's Lauren Thompson. The summit comes prior to next week's KPMG Women's PGA Championship, and those scheduled to speak include former U.S. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice, KPMG U.S. Chair & CEO Lynne Doughtie, Johnson & Johnson CEO Alex Gorsky, Gold Medal-winning U.S. hockey player Hilary Knight and former Olympic figure skater Nancy Kerrigan. Knight said, "It’s an incredible opportunity. We tend to stay in our own silos a lot because we are really successful in our different projects that we have. But it’s awesome to be able to collaborate and work with one another and listen to different insights from various, knowledgeable women who are outstanding in their own right." She added, “Whenever you have a platform to speak and you have a voice and you can represent other people who don't have the same voice and you can change the future for the next generation, I feel like you are obligated to do that. It is such an important piece of not only my on-ice activities and responsibilities, but the off-ice as well, is really pushing the next generation forward as much as I can. To be able to be a part of such an outstanding leadership summit is a great step, hopefully, to collaborate with other women down the line” (“Morning Drive,” Golf Channel, 6/20).
