NFL Becomes Latest Pro League To Join Green Sports Alliance

The NFL is joining the Green Sports Alliance. The group promotes sustainability and environmentally friendly programs at sporting events and venues. The NFL Environmental Program -- which spearheads the league’s sustainability efforts -- has joined the GSA and will be a sponsor at the Green Sports Alliance Summit later this month in Atlanta. “The Green Sports Alliance is delighted to have the NFL join our mission to support healthier, more sustainable communities where we live and play,” said Green Sports Alliance Exec Dir Justin Zeulner. “Several NFL teams and venues have been members of our organization for many years and we’re thrilled that the NFL, as a league, is formally pledging their commitment to the environment by joining the sports greening movement and our impressive membership base.” The NBA, MLB, MLS, NHL and NASCAR are already GSA members, along with NFL franchises likes the Ravens, Lions, Broncos, Redskins and Cardinals. “Professional sports organizations compete in many areas,” said NFL Senior VP/Social Responsibility Anna Isaacson. “But sustainability is one area where the interests of all organizations converge. Protecting our shared environment and preserving it for future generations is a common goal that we all can support and upon which we can cooperate and share resources and best practices.”
