Canucks Buy NLL Vancouver Stealth; Will Move Club To Rogers Arena

Canucks Sports & Entertainment has bought the NLL Vancouver Stealth in a deal that will see the team adopt a new name, logo and brand to be unveiled in the coming months. Additionally, the team will play the '18-19 season at Rogers Arena (NLL). In Vancouver, Steve Ewen notes it has been a "struggle for the Stealth" since moving to Langley Events Centre from Everett, Wash., for the '14 season. They have "finished last in the league in attendance in four of their five regular seasons there, including averaging 3,507 for their nine home dates this year." By various accounts, NLL Commissioner Nick Sakiewicz "helped put the Canucks together" with Stealth Owner Denise Watkins. The club will "now benefit from the marketing power of the Canucks." NLL teams like the Calgary Roughnecks and Colorado Mammoth have "flourished under the ownership umbrella of NHL clubs" (Vancouver PROVINCE, 6/19).
