Thunder Not Bringing Back Brian Davis As TV Play-By-Play Announcer

Thunder TV play-by-play announcer Brian Davis "won't be renewed" for the '18-19 season after Davis "just completed the final season on a four-year contract," according to Brett Dawson of the OKLAHOMAN. Davis' final regular-season broadcast last year "came with some controversy" when he described Thunder G Russell Westbrook as “out of his cotton-picking mind." He subsequently was "suspended for Game 1 of the team's first-round playoff series." That incident "likely played some part in the team's decision not to renew Davis' contract, which expires in September." Announcing that decision when it did "gives the team time to search for a replacement and Davis the chance to pursue other opportunities." The team will "not make a change" with analyst Michael Cage (OKLAHOMAN, 6/16).
