Digital Sports Media Consumption Continued To Show Growth In May

The digital sports media category in May posted a total audience of 182.1 million unique visitors according to monthly comScore rankings of multiplatform digital reach, up 4.5% from the same month in ’17 and extending category audience growth seen throughout this year. However, the total was down slightly from April, and the average consumption total of 90.6 minutes per user during May trailed both the prior month and May ’17. ESPN led the sports category with a reach total of 70.4 million unique visitors and consumption totals of 5.01 billion minutes overall and 71.3 minutes per user. MLBAM posted 1.48 billion minutes of consumption for MLB.com At Bat during May, again pacing all sports apps, and hit 3 billion minutes in a two-month stretch for the app for the first time ever.
