YAHOO SPORTS' Charles Robinson cites sources as saying that COLIN KAEPERNICK's legal team is "expected to seek federal subpoenas in the coming weeks to compel testimony" from PRESIDENT TRUMP, VICE PRESIDENT PENCE and "other officials familiar with the president's agenda on protesting NFL players" as part of Kaepernick's grievance case. The aim reportedly will be a "dive into the administration’s political involvement with the NFL during Kaepernick’s free agency and the league’s handling of player protests." This comes after "recent disclosures that multiple owners had direct talks with Trump about players kneeling." Sources said that the content of those conversations between Trump and owners is "expected to shape the requests to force the testimony" of Trump and Pence (SPORTS.YAHOO.com, 6/7).

Matthews could begin contract extension talks with the Maple Leafs this summer or wait until '19getty images

SUMMER MOVES: TSN's Insider Trading roundtable discussion yesterday featured talk on Maple Leafs C AUSTON MATTHEWS switching to Orr Hockey Group from CAA Hockey as his agency, and TSN's Bob McKenzie said, "In the grand scheme of things, (the implications) are probably not a lot." He added agent JUDD MOLDAVER has "left CAA to join the Orr-Wasserman group" and Matthews "decided to go along with him." McKenzie said this means instead of CAA's PAT BRISSON "being the lead negotiator on an extension" for Matthews, it "will be" Moldaver and Orr-Wasserman's JEFF JACKSON, who was involved in CONNOR MCDAVID's extension with Oilers. McKenzie: "The critical questions this summer are going to be, both for Auston Matthews and [Maple Leafs C] MITCH MARNER, are they going to do their deals this summer or they going to wait until their entry-level deals expire a year from now?" (TSN.ca, 6/6).
