The Univ. of Florida named former Auburn AD JAY JACOBS Exec Associate AD. Jacobs "spent 30-plus years in Auburn's athletic department -- including the last 13 years" as AD. Jacobs "announced his resignation as Auburn's AD in November and stepped down in late January." Former Univ. at Buffalo AD ALLEN GREENE was "hired to replace him" (ESPN.com, 6/5)....The Univ. of Arizona named Austin Peay VP/Advancement, Communication & Strategic Initiatives DEREK VAN DER MERWE the athletic department's "first-ever" COO. He will assist AD DAVE HEEKE in the "running of day-to-day operations." The pair "previously worked together" at Central Michigan (TUCSON.com, 6/5)....Univ. of Illinois Exec Senior Associate AD/Athletics & Sports Administration PAUL KOWALCZYK "will step aside" on Aug. 31 "following more than 30 years of working in college athletics." He "bridged the gap in leadership for the Illinois athletic department" from the time MIKE THOMAS was fired to the time current AD JOSH WHITMAN was hired. Prior to UI, Kowalczyk was Colorado State AD from '06-11 and Southern Illinois AD from '00-06 (NEWS-GAZETTE.com, 6/5)....The Wild named former North Stars GM & VP JACK FERREIRA Assistant GM. He led the North Stars' front office from '88-90. Ferreira is "expected to remain in California and work remotely" (STARTRIBUNE.com, 6/5)....Streaming platform FloSports named former ESPN Manager of Programming & Acquisitions LINDSEY ROSS Dir of Rights Acquisition (FloSports)....The NHL Kings promoted NELSON EMERSON to Dir of Player Personnel and GLEN MURRAY to Dir of Player Development. The club also named RICHARD SEELEY GM for its AHL Ontario Reign affiliate (THE DAILY).
