AT&T Partners With ESL To Sponsor Mobile Esports Competitions

ESL hosts a plethora of tourneys, and as a part of the deal, AT&T will have a presence at upcoming eventsESL

AT&T has partnered with esports promoter ESL to "sponsor several upcoming mobile video game competitions in North America," according to Mike Snider of USA TODAY. AT&T and ESL staged a "surprise mobile game competition" with several pro gamers playing the game "Clash Royale" as part of announcing the partnership Sunday at the telecom company's annual Shape tech and entertainment event in L.A. AT&T Assistant VP/Corporate Sponsorships Shiz Suzuki said that the "advent" of 5G mobile connections, which is set to be widely available later this year, "will provide an equalizing foundation for mobile gaming." At the upcoming Electronic Entertainment Expo from June 12-14 in L.A., AT&T has a 5G "demo at the ESL Arena, which will also host live competitions." AT&T will also "have a presence at several upcoming events including the Arena of Valor Pro League, ESL One New York in September, and Intel Extreme Masters (IEM) North America in November" (USATODAY.com, 6/3).
