New Senior Bowl Leader Looks For Ways To Improve Annual Attendance

This year's rainy edition of the Senior Bowl in Mobile drew just 29,606 fans GETTY IMAGES

The Reese's Senior Bowl introduced Jim Nagy as its new Exec Dir yesterday, and Nagy said that he "has some ideas in mind to improve attendance" for the game that "drew just 29,606 on a rainy day in Mobile" this January, according to Creg Stephenson of AL.com. Nagy, an NFL scout for 18 years, said, "The game itself is really for diehards. It's not Alabama, it's not Auburn. Sure, there are some players from those schools. ... There are things we need to do, whether it be a halftime show, or different events around the game or in the parking lot before the game." He added, "To me, the attendance thing, personally I feel is a little overblown. ... It's (often) weather-related." Nagy said that any talk that the event "might move to South Alabama once its stadium is constructed is premature." Nagy added that the Senior Bowl's relationship with the NFL "is strong" (AL.com, 5/30).
